Helen Feng Nova Heart

Chinese Underground Pop at its finest

Oktober erschien Nova Hearts gleichnamiges Debütalbum in Deutschland.

Helen Feng, who in these parts is still considered as an insider's tip, is already being celebrated as the 'Blondie of China' in Peking.
She was born in Peking and grew up in the United States and Canada, before she moved back home in 2001. The young asian has already worked as a host for MTV China, radio djane as well as a critic and fulfilled herself in miscellaneous projects (Free the Birds, Pet Conspiracy); in retrospect all steps leading to her current band Nova Heart.
With her group she appears as a grown up artist and instantly captivates the listener with lascivious vocals and hypnotic sounds. It is this moving mix of hypermodern west and mysterious east through wich the band stands out as an avant-garde pioneer.
On october the 2nd Nova Hearts eponymous album was released in Germany. With the exception of one ingenious cover of Patti Smiths 'Dancing Barefoot' the album only contains own creations.
